Queer Base - Welcome and Support for LGBTQIA+ Refugees is an organization of people with and without refugee experience. It was founded in 2015 and works for refugees who had to flee because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. The Vienna-based organisation serves as a contact point for LGBTQIA+ refugees and offers a confidential framework for exchange and networking. The Queer Base team advises refugees seeking help in the asylum process, supports them in dealing with the authorities, arranges therapy places, provides educational work on health issues and advice on questions of coming out and self-empowerment. An important focus of the association's work is the creation of housing for refugees.
